How to install Latex on Windows



I) install Miktex
1-Download Miktex installer and dowload all the available the packages. The name for the temp folder is not important

2-Re-execute the installer and select a full installation in a Unix/tex directory for example from your temp
directory. No spaces are allowed in the names if you want to avoid problems. If you don't want to mess your c:\ up
chose to install everything in a directory called "c:\Unix".

The installation could take some time. Meanwhile  pass to the second part


II) install the editor
You can edit your latex files with Notepad for example, or find a windows version of xemacs if you like. The best
is to choose TeXnicCenter which is free of Winedt you which is a shareware (you will have to pay for it or reinstall
it every mounth).
3- install Winedt with the default configuration.

4- Configure some options :
       0)      unclick show Wizard
       i)      Number of char per line : option/preferences/Editor
       ii)     Automatic translations between file and what you see : Option/settings/translation, select texread
               then tick enable; do the same for texwrite if you do not use the package \inputenc{latin1}
       iii)    install a French dictionary : download the dictionary from Winedt.org Web site, put the French.dic
               into Proga~1\Winedt...\Dict, load it with Options/dico manager by right clicking in the list choose
               insert, put French in the blank name, cheak all the options and the enable box. Then righ click in the list again
               choose Browse and selec where you placed French.dic

III) Learn how to use Latex... it's long but at the end it will be much more easier than MS Word
